amplitude modulation palpitation conundrum
SO
I got to meet BEN KWELLER! (and photograph his armpits)
and I got to GIVE MY CD to the lead singer of Deer Tick!
if you haven't heard of either of those people i don't care.
i am somehow filling up the emptiness in my heart by schmoozing with indie celebrities because i'm a dirty hipster.
they're not going to remember me/listen to my music anyway.
but isn't that just the holy grail of my ambitions, huh?
to get SOMEONE to actually listen to and/or appreciate my music.
i don't know WHY i have these motivations.
but all i know is that doing this is somehow connected to my larger dreams and slightly controlled by my subconscious.
in other news i finished my first calculus essay and it was about the inner workings of AM, or, amplitude modulation radios. last night, as i was writing, all the sudden my heart started beating really fast and i got all of these crazy ideas to create my own electrical circuits, i.e. loop pedals or modified electrical accordions or amplified saws or photocell shadow-sensitive instruments and whatnot. calculus, i know, is helping me to understand these things, though it is a long, slow, torturous process. at least, i mean, today as the deadline drew nearer and my understanding of electrical circuits grew not at all, my heart started beating really fast so i went for a walk and then got really depressed and then recorded a song about me v. the system, about how i hate technology but how i am at the same time giving in to it. i wonder if calculus will ever release me from its cold clutches, or if it will suck me in to the system forever? i guess we'll see. but regardless at least now i've ordered a loop pedal off of ebay, and i have some new crazy ideas to mess around with once i get back to oakland.

musical progression
I am so psyched!
Because:
1. MY CD
is done done done!
+
2. I have A SHOW!
August 25th at the Carpentry.
+
3. I get to live at CLOYNE again this fall. Hahaha!
+
4. I will soon apply for a regular timeslot at KALX. YEEAAH.
yesyesysyeysysyeysyy
I am in Providence, RI right now, visiting my mom and taking pictures while she interviews Deer Tick & etc. Maybe I can strategically place a copy of my CD in someone's hands.......
Things in the music world are looking up.
In the math world, however...

not la vie
it sucks to be stuck in a stoic room not doing calculus when you would almost always rather be in your living room messing around with mics and taking bongrips.
c'est la vie.
not.

america
Well, I would say that all in all, America, you are slightly below average.
Suburban mediocrity, repeated failures, underwhelming successes.
My grandiose ideas will see the light someday, I know.
But not with you. Not today.
I bought a fischer price kazoo/recorder/trumpet/trombone/slide whistle from the schizo cat lady and paraded around a barbeque. Not really the amplified show I practiced.
Then I failed to get this guy.
Then I DJed at 3:30am.
Ginsberg and Waits were being elusive.
Even Iggy Pop is going French now.
Are you liberated?
Happy fourth.

pity parade
the show last night was unsuccessful - faun fables was really awesome, for the two minutes i saw them (the amplified violinist has at least one dread hanging down past her hip, and the male basist wears a long skirt) but sadly bars don't admit hippies and underage girls for free, so we were kindly tapped on the shoulder and told to "get the fuck out".
everyone here at my west oakland home has abandoned it to go to 1. the rainbow gathering in new mexico, or 2. mutant fest in the woods of oregon. apparently banhart and oberst have been spotted at rainbow gatherings, or so i've heard via the birds, and i'm sure at the autonomous mutant festival 2009 there is bound to be a zach condon or two somewhere. but like him and his cancelled european tour, i feel the need to take some personal time to my self, to drive my self to the edges of insanity and back, again. thus i have decided to skip out on various opportunities that the world has opened for me. my ride to mutant fest left this morning without me. my 2nd potential dj shift at pirate cat radio in the mission of san francisco was refused by me. so i sit in an empty house in west oakland, playing my music as loud as possible, listening to the next door neighbors sell crack 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, humbly using youtube as my inspiration for future songs.
i think i'm going to skip out on the pride parade in the city today to have a pity party by my self. or maybe a shame parade with my accordion down by the bart station, if i'm lucky.
really really.
